Vendor Spotlight: Anthony Jenkins Photography

I would like to take a moment to recognize my second shooter, Anthony Jenkins . As a profession it can be a struggle to find a quality second shooter, that is not the case with Anthony; he is the epitome of professional. He is also a very out going and kind individual. He is always prepared for the task ahead and is ready to try something new. Anthony best summarizes it himself: “I truly love what I do, and I treat my couples as if they were my own family. I’ll always answer your emails, I’ll go check out a venue with you, I will be prepared for your day with the equipment and knowledge to do the job right the first time, every time. “ To find out more about Anthony or to see more of his work, visit his website or follow him on Facebook. If you would like Anthony and I to be at your wedding contact us today so we can start treating you like part of the family.

Photography Courses in Clearwater

I don’t see myself as a teacher. However, that does not mean that I am not willing to explore teaching some photography courses here in Clearwater. So, I guess what I am doing right now is to try to figure out how many of you may be interested in doing a photography course with me. The initial course would be small, probably no more than 5 people. As a group we would go out shooting once a week for 6 weeks. Each week would follow a different aspect of photography. First week we would over the basics of photography and do a lot of q & a. The subsequent weeks would be photographing things like wildlife, models, cityscapes and portraiture. To start off the cost would be $100/per person. If you this is something you or someone you know are interested in let me know so we can get this thing started.

Beautiful Wedding Photography

Image
The definition of beauty as it is found in the Merriam-Webster dictionary is: “   the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit … “ What does that mean for photography; although we can all agree on what makes a great photograph can we all agree on what makes a photograph beautiful? Author Margaret Wolfe Hungerford was the first to say that “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” and that still rings true today. I feel thought with some exceptions. We are literally bombarded with beauty on a second by second basis so we have set an unusually high standard for beauty. Beautiful photography to me when genuine emotion is shown, when the groom dances with him mother and tears stream down their faces, when a mother is holding her daughters hand by the seasides, when laughter comes bursting out. Those things are beautiful to me. I can have you stand and look a certain way, but if ...

Cheap Wedding Photographer

Cheap has become a dirty word, and I don’t think it is what people really mean when they say it. I believe what people are trying to say is that they want the best results for the best price. Nowhere is this more true than in wedding photography. By the time that most people get to their wedding photography they are already invested for thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars. I understand that weddings have a huge financial burden. So yes, I see why people are looking for a “cheap wedding photographer”. I don’t consider myself cheap, but my pricing isn’t boutique either. My pricing is where it needs to be to remain competitive and allow me to stay in business. So the question is why are you getting when you hire a cheap photographer? A cheap photographer is typically someone who hasn’t been in the industry very long. They don’t have enough equipment to complete the job, but not enough to create amazing results. They typically don’t...

What do you do as a wedding photographer

This is not an easy question to answer. What don’t you do as a wedding photographer. Although the photographer’s job is technically limited to just photography, it is rarely just that. Once you accept the job as wedding photographer you are also accepting the job or planner and coordinator as well. Often during the wedding you might be ask to do such tasks as getting the bridal party all together, coordinating the signing of the wedding certificate, putting on the boutonnieres and more. When photography comes into play thats fairly straight forward but a lot comes into play as well. Your main goal as wedding photographer is to capture moments either as they occur or split seconds before. If you watch a situation you can typically see when a moment is coming so it always benefits you to stay alert. Laughter, tears, grief these are typically emotions that only last for a few seconds and then are gone forever. As well as capturing the right moment it is also the photographers j...

Never hire an engagement photographer

Image
You read that right: never book an engagement session. It’s not worth your time. That is if you want to go into your wedding without ever meeting the person who will be capturing your story in photos. Truth be told, utilizing your wedding photographer for engagement photos is actually one of the most important things that you could do. Most photographers will offer it in two ways: either they will include it as part of your wedding package, or they will charge you their hourly rate for the session. Although both options work, I would recommend inquiring about engagement photos as a part of your wedding package. This simplifies the process and ensures that the photographer is available for not only your engagement photos but also your wedding. Engagement sessions are typically an hour long and consist of taking pictures at multiple spots in a single location. If you decide to do more than one location, then expect the cost of the session to go up. The engagement session is usually ...
